You read it right.
NB keeps Jazz on Mondays as it has been started in April of 2009.
However, Thursdays is in shift at moment.
Really?
Yes, Really.
How come?
Here is how it came to be…
Apparently, the hotel (the Lombardy) wants to have the booking ability on Thursdays,
and the owner of the lounge (NB Lounge) decided to accommodate the hotel’s demand.
As a musician, I don’t want to be involved in this “situation” deeply,
I decided to leave Thursdays alone and keep Mondays.
To me this is for now the best choice over fussing about Thursdays
or even switching the dates (ex. Fridays, etc.).
One interesting thing came out of this “situation” is that
I may have some dates to do solo act when the hotel’s not doing anything (on Thursday.)
In any case, that will be a last minute call; therefore, stay tuned with me via
facebook or twitter.
If you are lucky, you may hear me sing and play a little piano…
which I haven’t done it in a long time.
Speaking of Thursday, as of 2:30PM in EST on November 11,
there is no Jazz scheduled.
I will let you know if the music is on…
I will be visiting Japan from October 18th through 31st, approx. 2 weeks. If you happen to be in Tokyo vicinity during these weeks or Nagoya on Saturday, October 30th, please join me and let’s make each night, every moment memorable. If you won’t be in Japan at that time, but you do have frinds and family in Japan… Oh, please, I beg you to FWD my info to them!!!
A good friend of mine, Yukari in Japan, asked me
what I have sang in the lounge last night
(when I played with Toru and Yoshi).
I kind of remember the tunes I called
(or partially called by Toru and one of the guest),
but I don’t think this is a complete list in order.
Therefore… you may go ahead and assemble in your head to create
your own imaginary “mamiko” list based on these tunes (hehehehe).

I thought of writing something to describe how the last Thursday went, but showing you the pictures perhaps is the quickest and best way to let you feel how it was. If I will describe the night…. it was lovely and a full of fun moments. I thank Waki-san who was brave enough to do gigs in this setting not just once, but twice in a single week (at Langan’s and NB Lounge.) Thank you for those who came out and support the music including all singers who sat in and made the nights lovelier and merrier 😉
This Monday, the 16th is with Tadataka at the Lounge. As usual, it starts at 7:30 PM and close the set by 11PM. No Cover, No Minimum. Please join us for a drink (or two!).

In this Thursday, Toru will back in the Lounge with Yoshi on bass. Did I say BASS? Yes. Sort’a a summer special live that I have booked at NB for the first time. This is my way to show “thank you” and telling “sorry” to you for postponing 2 of Toru/Mamiko duo gigs in this month and September. It is rare to have trio gig at NB; therefore, please mark your calendar (or set your alarm on your cell phone) and join us on Thursday, the 19th at NB Lounge.

I am bit freaking out lately because people around me seem having really, really strange coughs.
Whenever I encounter this sort of “freaking out” situation,

Dunno if this does help or not, but at least I am being pro-active.
As I write this post, I am having Pink Lemonade one now.
It’s OK in taste-wise, but fizzes are great! (“fizz” is the best part of Emergen-C, no?)
昨日、恵美さん（おーい、読んでるかー？笑）がお友達を２人連れてきてくださって、
お二人ともお会いするのは２度目。
そのうちのお一人、ジョーさんは、ベテランのミュージシャン。
彼がリクエストをしていいか、と言うので、何？と聞けば
Why Did I Choose Youか、I’m All Smilesはできるかと言う。
こういうリクエストをしてくるところが、その筋の方らしい（笑）。
幸い、I’m All Smilesは大好きな曲だし、知っていたのでお応えすることにした。
I’m All Smilesは、大学２年の夏のワークショップで学んだんだが、
ちゃんとバーバラの音源を聞けたのは、大学３年の終わりぐらいだっただろうか？
バーバラの歌うI’m All Smilesと、自分の歌うI’m All Smilesの違いっぷりに
床を転げまわって笑った記憶がある。
また、ニューヨークに移り住んでから、最初に録音したデモ・テープで
この曲を歌った（ちなみにピアノは、どどりん）というのもあり、
自分の中では思い出深い曲であったりする。

I took Yukari’s advise and picked this one (I couldn’t decide basically on my own between Tea For Two or My Favorite Things as the up tempo choice.) Thank you, Yukari, for your “executive decision!”

Toruand I will be back to Miles’ Cafe in 2 weeks from today, Saturday, June 26. This will be our 3rd show at the cafe which I, personally, am very psyched.
It is so nice to work with a fantastic musician like Toru in regular basis, and to able to build unique repertoires with our signatures on them (“Stamp! That’s Ours!!” – the feel of ownership.) If you liked what you saw and can share your time with us, please come to Miles’ Cafe on Saturday, June 26th. The show will start at 8PM and end at 11PM-ish.
There are things to remind you: (which I am not so keen on making your arrival complicated, but, it is better than being secret about them!)
Miles’ Cafe is currently taking BYOB/F style due to backend issues (waiting for the liquor license, no cook on-board, etc.) If you prefer to drink alcohol, please bring on your own. If you would like to eat dinner, please bring your own as well. Miles’ Cafe only serves soft drinks and snacks which will count towards the minimum.As the guide, including cover charge of $10 per person with the minimum and tip for the wait staff, please expect $20 of spending at least with or without BYO items. Some of you may feel this is out of your budget, some may be OK with it. However, we sincerely hope our music is $20-worth to you and the night becomes memorable for all of us…

On Saturday, June 5, one of good singer friend of mine, Ayana Lowe will bring another good singer friend of mine, Ellynne Plotnick and myself together to her long-running regular monthly engagement at 55 Bar (in short, me and Ellynne will join her on Saturday, the 5th at 55 Bar.)
I haven’t been sang at 55 Bar quite a while and it is such a nice way to go back to the club – with 2 of wonderful friends. I am looking forward to this gig 🙂
