Thursday, 2/4 and Saturday, 2/6

When the weather is sunny and crispy (just a feel of it, not the actual bite of it), the line between the skies and the rest of object or nature seems adding more depth to the view – almost the object, for instance buildings, pop out from the rest. Like… 3D gets 3D-ier. …OK, I had too much coffee. I will shut up. (LoL)

Today is the Thursday. It doesn’t even give me any hint or sense of tomorrow’s snow storm (apparently Friday and Saturday will be snow.) It’s really a nice weather. Thank god that I don’t have to drag around my amp in the rain nor snow. Anyhow, I will be at NB Lounge tonight with Toru from 7:30PM. We are looking forward to seeing you!

In two Saturdays in a row, I am performing with Toru. In this Saturday, he is featured in the event called Jazz: Japanese Connection at Nuyorican Poets Cafe. I will sing a couple of songs with him in his segment. I think the door charge is $15 for general admission, and musicians who will participate in jam session later only needs to pay $10 to get in. Because the nature of the event is very special and variety of musicians will be there, reservation is highly recommended to secure your spot. Please call 212-465-3167.

By the way…

A little birdie referred me the link to the documentary on “Yuming” and her first album, Hikohki Gumo, on YouTube. It was aired fairly recently – I think. It was really, really interesting to watch. She wrote so many songs in her life (and still she is writing), but perhaps her first album is the hippest album and songs ever she made out of all her works. It’s situated comfortably in merged area of pops and jazz – harmonically in particular. Also, I must mention this… besides her ability in writing and the sound her band created, it was so nice to see the analog style of recording!!! How warm the sound is…. It really drove me crazy in a good way.

Also, I really liked the episode of her favorite flower. (this is nothing to do with music, but it relates to her love life that blossomed during this recording. She was describing as “shokuba renai,” Love at Work.) I won’t tell you what she said, but it was a lovely story. If I were in the same situation as she was and someone showed how much he cares about me in the same manner, I would be head over heels to that person – without any doubt, by no mistake.
